THEY LIVE

THEY LIVE are a an experimental electronic music duo.

They perform a combination of pre-rehearsed or improvised music using samplers, keyboards, processed guitar and voice and handmade instruments. Swinging between sparse and scattered whispers to a cacophony of hypnotic noise and drone. They press buttons, stomp pedals, yell, squeal, whisper, clap, strum, loop, key, fiddle, sing, speak, feedback, sample, drone, tap, delay, hit, slide, bend, tune, detune, distort, gargle, cackle, cry, pick, blow, hiss, noodle, brush, shout.

Eden Falk plays electric guitar processed through effects pedals and played through a loop pedal. Using a digital sampler partly loaded with pirated youtube samples and field recordings Eden also creates samples on the fly from his guitar. He creates a bank of scattered mutterings that hover between distant unsettling splutters and end with hypnotic drone.

Pia van Gelder plays keyboard, vox, hacked electronics. On the keyboard she generates dark bass drones and arpegiated melodic waverings. She creates weird extraterestrial tones and percussive triangles using hacked electronics like corroded singing birthday cards, remote controlled cars and zombified animatronic toys rewired with contact mics. Pia plays her voice with hand built acoustic chambers, voice box, voice mask, and kaoss pad sometimes making song, sometimes making noise.
