Melancholy melodies collide with frosty drum machine ticks and rainbows of layered atmospherics. The imploding sound cleverly dubbed “midi-evil disco” blends dramatic stylistic shifts between heavy-hearted ambience and a certain raw-punk defiance whilst retaining a consistent interest in rhythm and sound texture.
Melbourne’s TANTRUMS consist of Jade McInally (vocals/guitar/bass/keys), Sarah Phelan
(keys/production/programming) and John Nguyen (production/keys/programming). Like abstract symphonies sound-tracking an art school thriller film with the airy eeriness of The Virgin Suicides soundtrack, the output of this relatively new band has been featured on Fbi’s New Weird Australia Compilation #4, receives regular rotation on RRR and Fbi. The live show is complemented by live-synced visuals.
