Danny (DJ’s father) has left Joey in charge of the house, and when DJ comes home late without calling, Joey states that she will be grounded. DJ becomes angry because she doesn’t think Joey has the authority to ground her — especially when she has a karate tournament that weekend.

You’re Not My Father is composed of a sequence of recreations of a 10 second scene from the television show Full House, overlaid with a set of sound loops from the scene’s original music. The crews who re-shot the scene were recruited through Internet message boards and Craigslist.

Paul Slocum is an independent artist, curator, and musician living in Dallas. Computer technology and culture are often the medium and subject of his work. Since 2006, he has been the director of And/Or Gallery in Dallas, an art space focused on new media work. His band, Tree Wave, makes music and video using reprogrammed obsolete computer and videogame gear. Some of Paul’s performances and exhibitions include The New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, Deitch Projects in New York, Transitio MX in Mexico City, README 2005 in Denmark, The Liverpool Biennial, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.
